discovered that adding fish oil to animal feeds dramatically reduces methane
production in the stomach, but without affecting digestion. The oil works
by preventing the growth of gut bacteria which normally break down food
to produce methane. The researchers also hope that the fish oil supplements
will make the animals healthier and so too the people that eventually
eat them !
