Amino Acids in Outer SpaceThe search for life on other planets has taken an interesting turn - researchers have sown that there are amino acids in outer space. Amino acids are the building blocks from which proteins are made and without which the cells in our bodies couldn't function. We already know that there are complex molecules in outer space - a few months ago we ran a story about how researchers had found clouds of ethanol (alcohol) within our galaxy. This discovery may mean that molecules from outer space may have kick-started life on earth. And if it happened here, it could have happened on other planets too 20th Jul 2002 |
