Can we produce more readily recyclable plastics?

Would plastics which are meant for domestic containers be made more suitable for making good gases when they’re finished with, unlike today’s plastics? John, Colchester

We put this question to John Williams, Polymers and Materials Manager at the National Non-Food Crops Centre:

John -  Well, that’s the drive. There's a drive there anyway at the moment to do that.  That’s why you see the decline of PVC in certain applications in the market place, which is one of the usual problems.  We are deriving clearer plastic streams which will be a lot purer.
