We meet the engineers and technicians that design the components of the synchrotron to keep it running smoothly, hear from Diamond CEO Gert Materlik about the main highlights of these open days. This month we go down to atomic scales and investigate the properties of magnetism. We investigate the different forms of magnet and magnetic materials to see how they work, what applications they have, how they can increase our understanding of phenomena such as superconductors and how properties can be made to change in a class of materials known as multiferroics!
