Question

Tarquin of Sailing asked:

How far back can we observe in the universe both in terms of distance and time?

Answer

Dave - The limit is this point at which the universe became transparent which is about 400,000 years after the Big Bang. Because before that the universe had free electrons in it. Electrons interact with light very strongly so the light would hit an electron very soon and essentially stops. Thatís the limit.
