Question

Paul Herrington asked:

I'm interested in what we choose to hear. I've met people with Aspergerís who said that they hear everything equally and this becomes a huge sound overload for them, but I can filter out background sounds to focus on what I want to hear. How does that work?

Answer

Owen -   I can't comment intelligently on Aspergerís syndrome, on sort of the autistic spectrum, but if it is a question of allocation of attention, people who have difficulty channelling their attention to particular stimuli, to particular things, are going to have a harder time filtering out things that they donít want to hear.
