A 1948 operative resection specimen from a nine year old girl admitted with a three day history of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Her temperature was 100o (fahrenheit) with a pulse of 125. There was marked tenderness with guarding in the right iliac fossa. Appendicectomy was performed. Post-op recovery was uneventful.
