Title: chemistry calculation problem
Post by: ghunter on 18/04/2008 05:37:05
Hi, there. I got stock on this calculation problem and kept getting the wrong answers. Can anyone point me to the right direction how do I do this question? thanks!

Q: I was given 0.016 mole of H3PO4 and asking how much Na3PO4 would I need to make a buffer with pH 7.5 in 1 L.

This is a pure calculation question and I would not need do it experimentally.

Is this too complicated even for the trained chemists?

Don't you just need the same number of mols of each?
I take it that you are a student so you will be able to work out how much you need for a litre of 0.16 molar solution.
Else ask your boss / tutor.
