Christopher Stoddart asked the Naked Scientists:
Here in the states, and elsewhere in the world, new electricity generation capacity is predominantly natural gas rather than coal. This shift should help reduce CO2 emissions per kilowatt hour in the future. However, while burning methane generates less carbon dioxide, it also produces H2O - water. To what extent does burning methane lead to rising oceans by discharging water directly into the atmosphere? Have we exchanged one evil for another - a cooler, but wetter planet?
What do you think?
