Cutlery....it's my all time favourite utensils used for cutting and eating food !!
here's some...

Nice eh ?
Now, I was going to do this as a poll but I decided against it on two counts...1: Peeps may be embarrassed to answer honestly....(even if the answer is anonymous) and 2: MY polls are always poorly attended !! *le sulk*
So, I will just ask your advice instead !
Is it hygienically safe to immediately use a piece of cutlery that has just fallen on a clean floor ? or should one either get a new one out of the drawer or just wash the one that has fallen ?
whajafink ?
-
depends, if my floor or kitchen surfaces are clean...then i do.
but i guess you may be asking about bacteria. if that is the case then as soon as it is dropped on the floor it will become home to LOTS of bacteria, what's that "rule"...it's OK to eat food it it has not been on the floor for more than 10 seconds or something...
well thats not true, within an instant bacteria will be there doing their thing and multiplying. just eat some friendly yogurt afterwards [;)]

THANKS PAUL....what does one do with a brat kid who somehow manages to ALWAYS chuck every single piece of cutlery on the floor ?...arrrrghhh !!!!!!!
-
You lay him out a nice clean drop cloth!
-
glue the spoon to his hand.
-
er... uh... did i say that?
-
LOL! attach it via wrist cuff and make a zillion dollars a utensil wrist cuff so the soon or fork are never far from him and he can retrieve it on his own! LOL
-
While it is true that bacteria will attach itself to the cutlery as soon as it touches the floor, one has to ask is this any more of a problem than all the bacteria that is likely to be on the child's hand every time he puts his hand in his mouth.
Small amounts of bacteria are not actually harmful, and will help build up resistance to disease (and possibly reduce the risk of asthma - some theories have speculated that excessive hygiene may be a contributory factor for asthma). Ofcourse, the issue is to judge what constitutes 'small amounts of bacteria'.
The real risks are anyway probably not with bacteria, but with other parasites, often associated with pets.

I agree and when when we had tons of pets the 10 second rule was null and void! LOL! I always through it back in the sink or quickly washed it! LOL But I agree!! But I am kind of picky about the floor and our feet and what we have stepped in etc.. so Usually no I wash it! But truth it depends on how I feel and if I am mad at bob.. then if he is here he might find the utensil by his plate! LOL... Just kidding but I have thought about it!
-
I always get clean ones for me, but if hubby has ticked me off, he gets to keep the dirty one.
-
LOL did it feel good???? LOL
-
LOL...Yep, it did. Sweet satisfaction. [;D]

Great Idea !!.....but I think we'll just stick him in the bath and he can eat his dinner from there !!
-
glue the spoon to his hand.
...another great idea !! [;)]

er... uh... did i say that?
yes, ewe did !!!
-

He'll soon realize that he can make jingley jangley sounds permanently like that !!

Now why can't George make sensible posts like all the others ? [;)]
This is of course a very moot point about the hand in mouth.....so perhaps...as ewe say....a little bit of something will help to build resistance.....*le sigh*....we dont have any pets anymore....besides the kids that is !!

Yes that is the idea and then you will make money cause all his little friends parents will want one too! They are probably tired of playing pick up also.. But if its not to long he can do it himself! YAYYYYYYY!

Actually, we should use clean cutlery whether or not we are dropped on the floor.
-
Well if I get dropped on the floor you will need more then cutlery to get me up!! You will have to employ a lift! LOL My old bones are having a hell of a fight with the floor lately! LOL!

it depends if your floor is properly mopped than there cleaning it up is enough. But it falls over something cringy, then better to throw It away.

Filthiness....... it's not what goes in, but what comes out, of the mouth. If you truly realized the stuff you eat, it world probably make you queasy. The alimentary canal is outside of your body, and many foreign lifeforms must be farmed there, for you to live. If you had a diet of sterile food.......you would die. Your body needs the incoming filth.

Just to be safe, you can wash your cutlery after it's been dropped on the floor. It's not necessary to get new cutlery.
