Title: How much sulphur dioxide - SO2 - is released from volcanic eruptions?
Post by: Gormur on 30/10/2014 20:22:53
One of our many volcano´s has been spewing nasty gasses over us since last August (2014) and Sulphur spikes as high as 21,000 micrograms per cubic meter has been measured in populated areas; since the World Health Organization recommends no more than 500 micrograms per cubic metre for a 10-minute exposure. My question is:
Where can we get suitable gas masks?

More info:

WHOOPS - LOTS OF SPAMTASTIC LINKS THERE!

Best regards,

3M  makes gas masks that can be fitted with cartridges specific for different toxic/corrosive substances. There are cartridges that work for both SO2 and H2S. A quick google search should lead you to several vendors--I can't guarantee that they will be able to sell/ship to you because I don't know where you are. Good luck!
