Title: roberth and fishing.
Post by: Exodus on 02/07/2004 06:27:04
Hi Robert, am really looking forward to the old fishing trip next week, went fishing up in Queensland but came up empty [:(] What kind of stuff are we likely to be hooking? [8D]

I haven't had much chance to get on the site lately. I think the arrangements are all finalised now, but we should be catching flathead, morwong, snapper and dolphinfish if we're lucky and a lot of other fish I don't know the name of.

Well... i felt i better get on here and give our fishinf trip a write up...

Well, having rolled out of bed at Rob's place at 4 in the morning or some ungodly hour, we crawled into the car and headed off for the jetty. The boat left at 6ish and as we moved further up the bay,the swell started to grow. By the time we got out to see we were averaging 2 meter swells which eventually grew to over 3 once we got further out... It was pretty nasty and a fair few people were sick so we called it a day and came home. Rob caught the only fish in the brief time that we stopped but it got away. We were lucky on the way back to be escorted back into the harbour by a pod of dolphins riding the bow wave, one had a baby. Other dolphins were jumping over waves so was pretty awesome! I wasn't sick but i felt pretty crappy by the time we started back. Wasn't the best day but it was an experience to be out in such rough seas. Was also very nice to meet you Rob and your family as well. Thanks for the BBQ etc...

Laters.

And to finish the story...
Chris, Sarah and Rich went home fairly soon after we got back to shore. That was at about 9:30am. The rest of us that didn't feel crook had a days worth of food and beer to consume, so we went to one of the guy's houses and ate and drank until everything was gone.
The 2-3 metre swell was really only about 1-1.5 metres but the wind was gusting at around 40 knots. We would've continued to fish, but the wind and swell made it too difficult to hold the bottom.
