Title: Black Holes And Material History.

I read as a boy, that were it not destroyed, a clock falling into a black hole, it's hands would appear to turn backwards. Is this true? Does that matter lose it's history? Lose events?

Would the gravity in real terms, pull apart a nucleus?

Slow down and stop yes but turn back no.

Considering that most black holes are probably formed from degenerate white dwarf or neutron star material it's already been pretty well torn apart anyway but it would rapidly be taken down to a quark gluon plasma and anything beyond that is anybody's guess.

No wait we know very little about black holes. Who is to say it can't be a sort of time portal to the past or future?
