Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!
Whilst I was seeing some clients last night some *insert expletive of your choice here* person hit my car and drove off without even leaving me a note !
What can I do to stop it rusting ?..spray it with WD40 ?....is there a long term solution as I won't be able to garage the thing for a while !!...
grrrrrrrr !!....Me is upset !!
-
WD40 is far to thin and evaporates quite quickly. Engine oil is better get some off your dipstick if you haven't got any spare in a can, but wash your hands carefully afterwards because used engine oil is nasty stuff
The best oil is bearing grease. When I first started driving and you had to go round the car with a grease gun every thousand miles most motorists kept some in stock but nowadays this doesn't happen. If you have your car serviced propely there is probably a bit of spare grease around the door hinges that might solve the problem.
Using grease may give problems when you come to paint it you must remember to clean it off before you start painting.
Probably the best thing of all is to to touch it up with some anti rust primer. You can buy little borttles of it with a brush inside for touching up stone chips etc.
-
Those are wonderful tips. Thank You Ian.
I will check the door hinges before acquiring some anti rust primer.

Neil you can use vasoline! It is good and you can keep it on there until you get it fixed....I would tell you one time I used chapstick on a small scratch until I made it over to my body man...and it worked like a charm too...but yours sounds bigger than that...vaseline!

*Hi Lo..giggles*
Hey that's great Lo..yes Vaseline sounds great...fortunately the dent is not too big...clearly someone just reversed into it...perahps some TLC and Vaseline is what it needs........I know I do !!..LOL

Hey go to an automotive store and get a small container of car primer it is not pricey, just clean the spot off good before you put it on. Automotive primer will stop the rust, the thing is most of this stuff turns black. If the dent is not too bad pick up a suction cup dent puller and pull the dent out first, depending on the size, sometimes a household plunger will do the trick. Depends on size of dent though. Then primer it and you can even by a small tiny touch up bottle of paint to match your car. They make the little things to match the dealer paints etc. Be careful with the dent puller or plunger and vaseline, as you don't want to damage the thingy....LOL TLC is defineitely a must!!! LOL...

Ouch, that hurt. Bigger then i imagined. The black primer will work for tour touch up! You might be able to go into your trunkbelow your tail lights, assuming this is the back of your car, in sert a small block about the length of the dent and get a nice rubber mallet and get it a quick sharp tap and pop the dent out first! Assuming that is not the front of your lovely black car!.. It may pop the dent out I don't think the puller will do it do to the sharpness of the crease. Are you going to take it in later to be fixed?
-
Was it a Honda? I can't remember!! LOL
-
Thanks Karen, I'm not saying what the car is yet.but I want the model too !!
Karen Mam.....ewe are suggesting that I actually carry out some maintenance on the car ??, get a mallet ?..a dent pulling thingy ?....Mam !!....LOL...me not do stuff like that........me pay for proletariat staff to do that !!...LOL !!
Yes, I will indeed be getting it fixed good and proper....probably in the summer !
-
YOUR so funny!!! LOL Proletariat staff eh! LOL!!! We usually fix them ourselves, and when we can't we have friends who are body repair persons and mehchanics. Mostly me sons do mehchanical repairs!!

Afraid not Michael.

-
Nope !..I have a large family !

How about a Toyota Previa?
It does not look so much as someone was reversing into the car, more that someone was pulling out of a parking place, and misjudged the overhang of their bumper, a clipped your car as they were turning out (but the fact that the damage was on one corner, and what looks like long scratches rather than just an impression, implies that whatever hit you was probably turning as it hit you, rather than just straight in).

How about a Toyota Previa?
I owe you a googlplex of £££s...LOL...will you take a cheque !!...?..You KNOW it's made of rubber !!

It was not that difficult to guess.
From my conversations with you (and your comments about family size), it was clear you owned an MPV. The large flat tail area evident in the photographs further confirmed this.
You said it was Japanese, which rules out a Renault Espace - and the most common Japanese large MPV is the Toyota Previa (others exist, but far less common).
-
Neily.. Toyota previa is the same sive as my minivan.. LOL You said yours wasn't near as big as mine LOL

Uh, Neil...(Houston, I think we have a problem)the story is more than a car backing up into your wittle car...I think I saw a damaged pidgeon who mistakenly took your car to be the exit door of Ray's garage and he was limping across the road and a broken wing.
-
LOL....ewe remember that ?...LOL....
It's pigeon skid marks !!
