Title: Is there a mood-color type of synesthesia?
Post by: Riley on 15/04/2009 06:58:52
I was doing some research when I came upon an old topic on this site regarding synesthesia. As far as anyone knows, is there a mood-color type of synesthesia?

Because I haven't found any mention of it on other sites although I'm pretty sure I have something of the sort.

Also, I think that scientists trying to classify synesthesia into specific types isn't to the point. I have a few types of synesthesia some that are more avid that others. And I have a sister that upon questioning definitely has signs of synesthesia. Hereditary?

Any thoughts on the matter would be helpful for my research.  [;D]

Mod edit - formatted the subject as a question - please do this to help keep the forum tidy and easy to navigate - thanks!

My daughter, she's eight, is convinced that the days of the week have a colour. I think Thursday is blue.

Yup - Thursday is blue. Monday is greeny/blue, Tuesday is yellow, Wednesday is greeny/blue again and Friday is red.

Well the days of the week, as well as numbers, letters and even the structure of words have been said to have colors to some people. Sounds and tastes give some people colors like said above as well.

Also another sign of synesthesia regarding dates is a spacial representation of the year and/or month and/or week. Some people see the present date or month as being right in front of them and the rest of the year spread out in front of them in a circle. So April would be closest right now and October would be furthest away, on the other side of the circle.

Certain music makes me feel colors...heavy metal acid rock and the like makes me feel Dark blood redclose to black inside.. also puts me on edge if over exposed and unable to think straight!
Confused basically.

Pop music makes me feel peachy soft tones like soft yellows soft greens etc...

Romantic lovely music makes me feel  Mid to Deep greens, burgandies, and soft vibant reds...
