Title: Does anyone have AVS Video Converter?
Post by: Chemistry4me on 28/02/2009 23:26:12
How exactly does it work?
Is it any good? Has anyone tried it?
If you recommend it then perhaps I'll download it  [:)]

The trial version adds a watermark to the video ...

Quote
AVS Video Converter runs under Windows XP/2003/Vista. The trial version has no time, feature or other known limitations except for a watermark logo that is put on output files. Since a watermark spoils the final output files then the trial version may be considered crippleware.

What does the watermark do?

What does the watermark do?

The watermark is text or a logo superimposed on top of your video, ruining it ...

The trial version (with watermark) does permit you to see if the software works before you part with cash.
But you gotta cough up the reddies to get a code to switch of spoilers like watermarks, (or bleeps on audio editor).

I would hesitate to suggest that anyone should download a pirated version but I have heard that it is available via VUSE.

So what exactly can I do with it?
There does not appear to be a lot of info on just that.

You can take a movie in .AVI format that you have downloaded from the internet and convert it to MPEG2 PAL or NSCT and play it on your regular TV or DVD or you can make your own movies by piecing together film clips from your camera and still pics or drawings and output them in most any format.
A most versatile program.

Can I use it to download movies from say: Youtube?
Or is that not what it's meant to be used for?

I should make my own movie with it!

There's a great (and free) video convertor called 'Super'.  It does everything, as long as you know what you want it to do!

I've also downloaded Prism. I haven't used it yet but it looks OK. It will convert any video file that can be played using Windows Media Player.

Ben - do you have a download link for Super that works? I've tried and the links just go round in circles without actually being able to download anything.

It's not bad, but I prefer Prism, because it is faster and supports more formats.
You can try trial from here:http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
