S'posedly, C. difficile is getting much more common in (British) hospitals because the big drive to use alcohol spray to clean hands between patients (in the fight against MRSA) is leading more medical staff to clean with that instead of washing their hands properly with soap-and-water, and only soap and water kills C. diff.
Apparently they're also (finally!) encouraging doctors to wear short sleaved shirts and leave their ties at home. There was a reason why doctors traditionally wore bow-ties in the old days. Eugh.
