Is C. difficile a bacterial or a fungal infection.?
-
Clostridium difficile is an anaerobic bacterium. However, it has the ability to form highly-resilient infectious spores that are capable of persisting in the environment for extended periods, leading to some people confusing the agent with a fungal infection.

Another problem with C diff is the spores are not killed by the hand sanitizer used in hospitals, but old fashioned hand washing is effective.
