Some of the sand near coral reefs is bits of reef that has been eaten by a fish and passed through them. However there is a most of the sand in non-tropical areas the world that is made of quartz and possibly some other minerals, which are basically bits of rock that has been broken up by weathering water, waves etc.

So basically some of it is yes, but by no means all of it.
