Yes, Dolly was confirmed as a clone. We know this because she was produced using the egg from a ewe of a different sheep strain, confirming that cloning had taken place.
Incidentally, does anyone know how Dolly came by her name ?

...it was because prior to Dollys birth the commercial bandwagon had already mass produced toy clone sheep, and also the best selling game ' Lets Clone A Sheep '...so, inspired by the toy market they decided to call Dolly....errhm...Dolly !!

Dolly was named after Dolly Parton as the cloning was done from breast tissue
-
If they had thought carefully about using Dolly Partons breast tissue they could have made a very interesting sheep/camel hybrid !!
