Title: Freshly cut flowers and viagra!
Post by: paul.fr on 13/10/2007 22:14:46
firstly this may well be in the wrong section, so if anyone wishes to move it please feel free.

I was reading about this experiment on how to keep freshly cut flowers looking healthy, and reduce the time it takes for them to wilt.

The usual suspects were used, plain old water, sprite/lemonade, vodka and suprisingly, a viagra tablet (crushed and added to water in the vase). Now, according to those who did the experiment the flowers with the crushed and disolved in water viagra tablet kepf the flowers "up" the longest.

why would that be?

What viagra does is increase circulatory pressure - but it is a very expensive way to keep flowers looking good unless one is made of money.

In humans, viagra is supposed to increase nitrous oxide levels in the blood (originally intended as a heart medicine before they realised they could make more money out of stimulating blood flow in other parts of the body than in the heart).
