Is there a central region to the universe, i know with the expansion of space no point could remain central as all points are constantly moving as the universe expands . but does that mean that there cant be a region which is more central to everything else, even if only for a small period of time

cheers neil but lets put it a diferent way.
with expansion of the universe everything moves away from everything and so it would be impossible to find a center.
However lets say you could stop time and the expansion of the universe , wouldnt it be possible to measure out the whole thing and give coordinates for all the galaxies and everything,surly an agreement could then be made on a point which is central to everything.

But that is fascinating Michael. yes, suppose you could just freeze the entire Universe but we could move within it and measure it !!..WOW !!..Imgaine what the edge would be like....or I suppose we would just go round and round in circles as if you were circling a planet, as there is no edge is there.

Yes, if the universe was open, but as the universe is considered to be closed, then no.
It is like walking along the rim of a circle, and trying to find where the centre of the circle. Just as a circle has a centre outside of its rim, so it may be that the universe has a centre outside of itself, but we would never be able to find it from within the universe.

It seems to me,and i am no college major,that if you "froze" the universe or found some other means of reaching the "edge" that the pre-universal void where ther isn't even void would recede if you found a way to step "beyond" the edge,you would just expand it some more,taking the edge of the universe with you,as you are part and parcel of the universe your self. Opinions?

The topic that i found this site for is this, can the expansion
of the universe from a stupifyingly hot ultra masive dot in to our current cozy planet star galaxy set up be viewed instead of expansion as the cooling of all that is within that ultra tiny dot so that everything
takes longer to move from point a to point b,since cold objects internal parts move slower. I belive it would require space to have its on particle or granular make up at a extremly small level,and just read some thing along the lines of space being "grainy" in scientific american. I think that it would all seem the same to those of us stuck inside of our everexpanding (or cooling?) universe.Thanks for insight and pointers on where to read up.[:D]

But, surely, moving from point A to point B implies that there is distance between them. That in itself infers explansion of some kind. Or do you mean that we exist within that tiny dot?
