Title: Who invented the Blood pressure cuff???
Post by: Karen W. on 10/10/2007 12:34:31
More specifically the wrist cuff?? about what year..? And how was it discovered that squeezing the living daylights out of your arm, would allow them to get a reading of your heart rate and pulse etc?

I monitor my heart every couple hours to keep a running tab for the Doctor as well as making sure I am within  a safe range, not too high or too low!

I had a pressure taken yesterday morning that hurt so badly it was ridiculous! My blood pressure took a dive and they could not here it so she squeezed harder...So tell me about the inventor, and is he or she or they still living?

Is it revenge you're after ?  Problem is that I find more than just one name (and all of them dead) :

NO revenge just curiosity! I have another blood pressure question in physiology and medicine!

Truth be known if I could sent a swift kick into the behind of the fellow that made the arm cuff I would have taken pleasure in the opportunity yesterday! LOL But really am curious. I love my wrist cuff. It is not painful, but why do the doctors insist on the upper cuff. When these fellows designed them are the arm cuffs more reliable for accuracy then the wrist cuff! I paid 200.00 from a medical supplier for mine. It seems to work well! The information is great Eric thanks.
I am shocked at how long ago.
