Title: To what extent is the size of the fœtus controled by the mother
Post by: syhprum on 09/10/2010 14:21:03
Domestic dogs have a fifty to one ratio in size between the largest and the smallest but it is thought that all varieties can interbreed baring mating difficulties.
What would be the result of artificially inseminating the smallest with the largest ?

Mules are close to inter-species - domestic dogs are still very much one species.  I wonder like Syhprum what might happen - but although some dog-breeders do some pretty despicable things I doubt even they would go so far as to interbreed dogs where the mother could never give birth to the pup.  Bit of research on web on size of chihuahua pups and g dane pups is called for methinks
