How come the sun is in the centre of our solar system, and we all revolve around it. Is it just good luck, or is the type of star that the sun is, one that forms in this way and other stars or planets simply are drawn to it?

No - we were not
drawn
to the Sun, the Earth was created by the Sun in situ (in some ways we can regard that the Earth is actually a part of the Sun, being a part of the atmosphere of the Sun - like a cloud is a part of the Earth).

The formation of planetary systems around stars is part of the process of getting rid of excess angular momentum (net rotation) in a cloud as it contracts to form a star. If the mass of all the planets asteroids and bits in the solar system was dumped into the sun It would not have much effect on the processes going on in the sun however the angular momentum stored up in the planets etc as they revove on their orbots around the sun would cause the sun to spin much faster than it does now in fact it would spin so fast that it would probably not be stable and start to fall apart.

Because the mass of the sun is much greater than the mass of everything else in the solar system, it would have a hard time occupying any position other than the center, by reason of orbital dynamics. (What other role could it possibly play?)
