So what makes it a fruit?

Because it's sweet? (Not sure it's that sweet though) And has seeds?

I believe fruits have internal seeds, vegetables don't.

From Wiki

"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad."

Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: therefore it is a fruit or, more precisely, a berry.
