Bill Nye Believes we are living in a matrix created by an supercomputer of unimaginable power I do not believe this and think it is nonsense, you might as well call his matrix creating unimaginably powerful supercomputer God, because their capabilities are identical

In my opinion it is ridiculous nonsense!

But that is just my opinion and as a fallible being I could be wrong

Thus please tell us what you think?

Alan

I think the "matrix" explanation is an interesting philosophical exercise, but does not address any of the problems that can be interrogated scientifically. I agree with Alan, that it is essentially the same as having a god, only stipulating that we know something of the workings of that god, rather than allowing it to be an entire mystery. I think part of why the supercomputer description appears apt and in line with physics is that we strive to understand the universe in terms of rules and algorithms--of course a logical and mathematical explanation is going to jive well with our own logic- and math-based models!

If a super computer could read/write instantaneous and create physical 3d modelling that it could re-write instantaneously , then maybe so.....

Bill Nye is a complete joke.

Maybe he is wrong, maybe he is right. He is very critical of other people's ideas and makes a career out of it, then he comes out with this?

Pop science at its greatest. Unless he provides a test for this completely unoriginal concept he is no better than anyone else.

I agree not that he is joke he is nice man , but some of his ideas are much to far fetched to be taken seriously. He is a philosopher not a scientist,  it is wrong to dismiss everything he says.
