We've had optical communications for years and we've had motion tracking and dampening technology for even longer, why should the NASA OPALS be such a touted experiment if it is merely an optical comms system. Christian Roos' and Cornelius Hempel's team of physicists in Innsbruck have experimented with using lasers to optically stimulate quantum entanglement resulting in single photon entanglement detection. If the NASA experiment employs such a system, that then would be exciting.
