When most people see someone injured, e.g. a footballer harshly tackled, they make a particular facial expression:
pouted lips, half-shut eyes and a sharp intake of breath.
Could this (empathic) expression of distress have originated in breastfeeding ?:
being removed from the breast whilst still hungry, or am I getting too Freudian ?
