Title: Can diet control ADHD?
Post by: thedoc on 01/05/2013 09:30:06
Wayne Holmes asked the Naked Scientists:

At age 8 I was diagnosed with Minimal Brain Dysfunction, which we know now as ADHD. I have since passed the non-standard DRD4 gene on to my son who was diagnosed with ADHD last month.

Is there any conclusive evidence of a benefit to ADHD sufferers, of a diet rich in essential fatty acids (or at least EFAs taken as supplements)? Is there any benefit of increasing ones EFA intake, even if one doesn't have ADHD (other than the cholesterol reducing benefits)?

Best regards
Wayne
