well, not really. But, ther jurors in the case were "excused from serving again for life". Does anyone know why? I know when you have done jury service you can not do it again within x years, but why would a juror be excused for life?...not just because they could not get a verdict, surely.

I think sitting naked in the court could get you banned for life. Sleeping and reading magazines can also get you into trouble.
-
Paul you are wrong about only doing jury service once as I've
done 3 times but not for a while and the last time was in the
Old Bailey (Central Criminal Court)
But if you want to get out of Jury service go to your doctor and
talk to the doctor to explain things or just get on the phone to
the court etc.
-
Just remember, if you are ever on trial, you are being judged by 12 people not smart enough to get out of jury duty.

I'm not eligible for jury service.
Anyone care to guess why?

The categories of people who are excused jury service are:
anyone who is more than 65 years old
anyone who has been on jury service during the past 2 years
a member or officer of the House of Lords or Commons
a practising member of the medical or allied profession
a Euro MP
a member of the Forces whose absence would be "prejudicial to the efficiency
of the service"

Go on Bored Chemist we'd like to know. I can only suggest narcolepsy.

Forensic scientists and others in similar professions are exempt.
This leads me to wonder, why do they want to avoid having people who know what they are talking about on juries?
