THE SCIENCE OF LIGHT - We'll be visiting the world famous glow worm caves of Waitomo, New Zealand, and finding out how these creatures helped soldiers read their maps in the trenches during the 1st World War. We'll also be finding out from UCL chemist and Rahman-spectrum expert Prof. Robin Clark how light has been used to detect forged maps, papyri and paintings, some claimed to date back thousands of years, and from Imperial College's Prof. David Phillips we'll be finding out how light can be used to heal all ills, and about his latest invention - a laser powered toothbrush !

Hi Dr Chris,
Heard you filling in for Dr Karl/Carl last night on Radio 5 Live,
tried to ring in without success. Thanks for a great show Chris, you did extremeley well...gosh !!..you know soooo much !!!. When you were explainging the rotation of the moon I was shouting at the radio as I thought if that lady just went to her fruit bowl and used an apple in orbit around an orange, always keeping the same side facing the orange... then she could have seen for herself that the apple was spinning as it orbited the orange....anyway....thanks again Dr Chris..
ps: Did being called a pointy headed boffin on numerous occassions piss you off ?[;)]

well thanks. I was actually extremely tired last night after being out on the razzle and I felt I was doing a really lame job...especially the moon business. I knew I could've done tha better but my brain was feeling stodgy from a hard week's work and a night out on the town !
