Title: What do I need to perform high pressure hydrolysis of water?
Post by: ICuriousJ on 21/08/2012 07:39:39
I want to perform high pressure hydrolysis of water (300-600 bar) . The purpose of the hydrolysis is to store energy in the form of the hydrogen and pressurized gas.

I'm seeing notes on High pressure Electrolysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-pressure_electrolysis)

You would need a vessel capable of withstanding your intended pressures, that you could load with the anode, cathode, and some kind of a Proton Exchange Membrane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton_exchange_membrane).

The design would probably include two vessels with the proton exchange membrane between them so that you can keep your oxygen and hydrogen separate.
