Military studies with this remarkable stimulant across several countries have shown some incredible results. The idea of supplying troops with stimulants is not unusual. The military have always been at the forefront in attempts to discover new avenues that can help create a stronger and more efficient soldier. Having a drug that can battle sleepiness and also support cognitive function would considerably help utilize the countries soldiers more effectively.

In actual fact Professor Michel Jouvet who is an authority on sleep stated in an international defense meeting held in Paris that modafinil was capable of keeping an army awake and fighting for a three day period without any major side effects. So it no surprise that modafinil is now being used in some areas of US, Dutch and Belgium airforces.

One reason coffee is popular in the USA (rather than tea in the UK) is that soldiers in the civil war were reportedly issued with a ration of coffee to keep them awake.

After the war, the veterans all returned home with an addiction to coffee.

...plus, they threw all the tea into Boston harbor, some years before...
