Title: Why do mints/mint gum sometimes induce sneezing?
Post by: Chiisanahime on 11/12/2009 08:20:06
Whenever I chew mint gum, I begin to get the "sniffles", so to speak. This also induces sneezing. Why causes this to happen?  [???]

Perhaps sensitive olfactory nerves.

When my allergies are acting up and I chew mint gum between the chewing action and mint it helps my nose to drain, causing the sniffles because I was a tad conjested but not enough to notice until I chewed the gum.. anyway my nose then drains and the strength of the mint flavor and odor works on y nose much like menthol....I am no scientist but this is what I notice with me.
