I’m back and this is my story.
Day 1: Left from home at around 2 o’ clock. We got to the campground at around 5, because we stopped in Van Wert for an hour, and looked at our campsite we reserved and it was not going to work, even though we thought it would (we had everything unpacked from the boat). When we checked in they told us that we can switch campsites one time. So we went campsite hunting and found one. Went back to the old campsite and loaded everything back up into the boat, headed back to it, and go everything completely set up. We ate something that I don’t remember and headed to the launch ramp (13 minute drive from our campsite), which was 3 lakes away. Mom started to back the boat in and once the drive was in the water I heard this water start rushing in the boat. Sure enough, we had a leek. We had to pull it back out of the water and go back to the campsite. After a long day of packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking, and a broken boat we just took our showers and went straight to bed at 12:30
Day 2: I woke up at 9:00 and had a nice breakfast of pancakes and sausages. Dad and I went to town to get the part for the boat. While we were in the marina we looked at some sweet boats, but they all cost around 50,000 dollars, heck get a nice 3 year old one and its like 10,000, when we got back to the parts section of the marina we had this one person that did know what she was doing. Then some guy came up and asked what we needed. Dad told him 1983 (Yeah it’s that old LoL) Mercruiser Bellows, the smallest one. The guy goes back and gets the part really quick. Dad paid for it and we went back to the campground to put it on. The stupid thing took 2 hours to get on. We had to do a whole bunches of stuff that I don’t even remember. When we got that fixed back to the launch ramp we went and you WILL NEVER guess what came next. Mom was backing it up into the water again and goes “Why is the Break like on? Dad goes great. Tells mom to pull us back out again, then dad goes look under the truck for leeks when I press the breaks. I saw one so I told him. He goes where at? I go behind the rear wheel. Oh No goes dad back into town. Have to go get something (can’t remember what). We get to Auto Zone and get that something, other something, and other something (I can’t remember parts that well) (The last to somethings where just incase). We get back to the campground to fix that. GUESS WHAT NOW!! It was none of the parts we got. It was just part break line. So back into town we went this time to get break line. We got the break line, but it was about 10 inches to long. Dad had to bend it around a lot to get it to fit. Get back to the campground and tries to take the tire off to get to it. GUESS WHAT NOW!! The wheel would not come off. It happens to all the aluminum rims on the metal surface of the axle. Dad soaked that in a bunch of lubricant and took a break to have supper with the people that were camping next door. It was a nice little supper Hamburgers with all (well almost all) the extras, some applesauce, and a good conversation. I found out that they lived in Toledo; they were married 11 years with no kids; they had two dogs that were both 10 years old, a wolf (part something wolf and something wolf) and a white German Shepard. After dinner dad went back over to the truck to take the tire off. It didn’t come off. So dad took a huge ax and swung it at the back of the tire to get it off. (Oh yeah this would be a good time to mention that dad was a mechanic for 15 years and that’s why he knows how to do all of this stuff.) Once dad got the tire off he took the old break line off, put the new one in and bent it all around to get it to fit, got it to fit, bleed the breaks (which for if you don’t know requires one person to press the break petal a million times, guess who that was, and the other person at the end of the breaks looking for something.), added a whole bunch of break fluid, and yay! the truck was fixed, but it was 10:30 before it got done and dad didn’t want to take the chance of the getting stuck out in the middle of a channel for all hours of the night (it was our first time up there). So we just took a shower and relaxed in the tent for awhile and dozed of to bed.
Day 3: Have to get my notes out for this one I don’t remember how it went exactly. I woke up around 9 again. For breakfast this time I had a donut and some water, a very good donut. Around 10:30ish we went back to the launch ramp to put our boat in. And GUESS WHAT!! Nothing went totally wrong this time. Mom backed it up and dad started the boat and took it right off the trailer and went though the channel, over a lake, though another channel, over another lake, though another channel, over other lake, and parked at the dock. (Took at least 45 minutes idling) See why dad didn’t want to do this at night? Oops I forgot to mention that the boat wouldn’t go in reverse, we couldn’t go no where fast because the sea weed jammed the prop, and once all that cleared up we had smooth sailing (not really sailing because it’s not a sail boat, but oh well). After we got docked we went back to the campsite ate the left over hamburgers really quick and when on a 7 mile hike. On the hike we saw chipmunks, squirrels, horse poop, horses, deer, and some other animals. Features on the hike we old trees and new tress, a place called Hell’s Point, Hell’s point is the highest point in Indiana. 1,123 feet above sea level, the last feature on the hike was a place called spring shelter. Spring Shelter had a thing called an artesian well. It’s where someone hits an underground spring and the water always keeps coming at 50 degrees. The water tasted amazing! Once we got back from the hike we ate something (something means I can’t remember if you are following along) and got rid of the trash. There was this HUGE coon that was stuck in the garbage container. Then went out to the boat because it was still not as smooth as it should have been. Dad and I went out there got it dialed in so it actually runs and sounds like a boat. We got back to the dock and said lets go swimming. Mom and Renee and Dad and Ember (our dog) and I got on the boat and went swimming at the boater’s beach. The water was cold. Very cold water it was. We still probably swam for 2 hours though. Headed back into camp and took shower, roasted some marshmallows and hot dogs, and went to bed. I should warn you all that this is the ONLY good day.
Day 4: Woke up at 10:30 this time and found out that we had a squirrel in the truck yesterday. He or she had a spicy Slim Jim and 20 Tums. What a smart squirrel right? After that he said ugh I don’t feel so good. He said lets drive and started clawing at the acceleration petal. He gave up on that and said lets turn so he got up on the turn signal switch and pressed it down. I don’t know how but he finally got out. I bet you (even though I don’t bet) that that squirrel will never be right for the rest of its life. After breakfast of something (I’m liking the word something) we went to town to get some more food since we were about out and since it was about 12:30 we just went to taco bell got some yummy food and headed back to camp to eat and organize all the food we got. After that we went boating again. We got to the beach and swam for only 30 minutes. Only 30 minutes because a storm was a brewing. It was a weird storm. The storm was coming one way while the wind was going the other way. After that 30 minutes we went we better get back to the tent to get it covered. GUESS WHAT NOW!! Half the way across the lake it started down pouring. Big heavy drops, I was sitting in front and one of the drops hit me square in the eye while we were moving 35 mph. It sucked! I went to the back and I was still getting pelted with what felt like hail. We got the boat docked and headed back to the tent, but we parked beside some people on a pontoon. We are like that’s smart. Sitting on aluminum tubes, on water, in the open, during a storm, anyways we all headed back to the tent to get it covered. It was too late even though it had the cover it came with it, the tent still got filled with water. Everything was soaking wet our beds, the floor, some of the food, us, everything. We sat in the truck for about 2 hours waiting for it to pass. While we were sitting in there dad goes where are the cell phones? His was in the boat getting soaked and mom’s what in the tent plugged into the charger getting soaked. Everyone thought that we had to get new cell phones, but we they worked after 30 minutes of sitting on the heater vent of the truck. The charger broke though. So we couldn’t charge the phones for 2 days and they already had low batteries. We gathered up all the wet clothes and sleeping bags to put in the truck to get them to the laundry mat to get them all cleaned and dried up. We probably spent 1 hour and 30 minutes cleaning and drying the clothes. After we got that finished we headed back up to the campground to get the tent dry and pick up the messes from the storm. Once we got everything enough to sleep we took our showers and just lay in the tent until we fell asleep. I’m pretty sure that was everything for that day.
Day 5: I need my book again. Woke up around 7 o’ clock to go down to see how much water had gathered. There was at least 550 gallons of water in the boat. It took a LONG time to pump out all of the water. It took maybe 1:20 minutes to pump out the whole boat with a 450 gallon per hour pump. I heard we got around 2.8 inches of water in 2 hours. CRAZY!! They were calling for flash flood warnings the pervious night too. This time I had 2 donuts for breakfast! Yum! I wrecked my bike because I was using my front breaks (back ones were shot not literally, but yeah), there was a gorge, and I was going down a hill. What a recipe for disaster. It hurt for a long time. We went hiking this day also, but only for 4 miles this time. At least 5 hours of that day was spent cleaning up the sand from the other day’s storm. Why did dad have to pick a sandy campsite? Jezze. LoL. We went out on the boat for a few minutes and came back in because it looked like another storm was coming and no one else was out on the lake. When we got back dad went to put the prop up and it didn’t go up. Dad goes great. Opens the engine cover and there was a milkshake in there. Not good at all. I don’t remember much about this day, but I remember taking a shower and sitting in front of the fire for 2 hours. Nice stuff.
Day 6: Woke up at 6:30 to do so something and then went back to bed until a storm hit at 8:00. Ate some pancakes for breakfast and then spent the next 4 hours packing up all of our stuff and driving the boat back to the launch ramp. We left at 2:20 and drove 20 miles and the truck broke. Dad threw a rod even though he knew how to prevent it. We spent 2 hours at a truck stop. At the truck stop we just sat there and sat there some more and ate some food. My uncle came to take all of us and the boat home, he drove us 94 miles to get back home. Once we got home (around 7:00) we had to the Dodge and the tow dolly to go get the blazer. On the way there on 469 some trucker fell asleep and almost run us over. We were in the fast lane and he was in the slow lane. Dad was about ready to pass him when he started drifting over to the divider without turn signals. We would have died if dad would have been 5 seconds faster. We finally got up to Auburn (around 10:00 were the truck had broke. Since it was a 4 wheel drive truck dad had to take the drive shaft out of it so it would not mess up the truck more. That went pretty smooth. We got all the way back home (11:45) with no problems actually. By the time I took a shower and got to bed it was around 12:45.
Other Stuff: While I was there I bike around 30 miles. Chipmunks are so CUTE. We camped near 4 fellow Ohioans. Angola has a lot of lesbians. I just drove into that town and I saw girl holding hands and flirting and stuff. UGH. Angola is a very unlocalized. I saw more out-of-state plates then Indiana plates (Texas, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and a few others). We went to Wal-Mart to many times, AutoZone 3 times, Mejier twice, taco bell once, a pizza place once, gas stations a million times (no only about 3). I got some compliments on my guitar skills. Lots of people liked my Thunderstruck, Crazy Train, Rock you like a Hurricane, and Jessie’s Girl. I didn’t touch a computer for a week. .
So, as you can see what a vacation and I’m lucky to still be here, and the only reason I typed these 4 and ½ pages was because I can’t stand when people go on vacation for a week and I ask them how was your vacation and they answer with one word. And I know I missed a WHOLE bunch of stuff.

Well That is the way of many campouts! LOL Well a break from regular routine for sure!

Yeah I guess that's the one other good part. LoL. I also lost a rabbit while I was gone too. I have to many so I really don't care. LoL.

Oh dad says we are selling all the stuff. The truck since we might get a new on soon the boat and all the camping stuff. LoL.

We had a log truck with a full load of logs come flying down a corner to fast hit his breaks and not make the corner, he rolled the semi and all the logs came tumbling end over in down into our campsite like giant pencils the campers in the adjoining camp ground knew our children were in the tent as they heard us set up camp around Midnight the previous night! They were up and started screaming get the kids out of the tent somebody wake them in the van... mass hysteria then I could hear my children screaming and horrendous noises, there was pounding and screams to hurry up get out of the van Now... The logs stopped at the edge of the tent as I came from the van.. I saw it pivot and turn and fall into the campfire area next to my tent it was as if a giant hand twisted it and shoved back the other way! another was falling to the left head at me in the van. I watched it do the same thing 5 feet from our Van and fall backwards the opposite was it had been tumbling.. I was so scared and those strangers from the other camp had the fore thought to remember hearing that we had very little children in the tent ... They risked their own lives for a strangers children... I was so in shock and scared my kids were horrified that some big guys had snatched them from their sleep and was running away with them fast as h*** through the woods.... One of my big memories!

this is all precisely why i don't go camping with my parents. i'll go hang out at the camp site, but then i go home

LOL LOL we had a good time for three days and I got to nervous so we went home.. LOL

Something like that always got us when we camped.. we only did it on the weekends.. and not often..

Same with us we got maybe 1 or 2 times a year. And for 4 to 5 days. Our only vacation. LoL.

We used to go about two weekends a year if we were lucky all three kids and lots of food and it always looked as if we were going for a month! LOL I wish.. I have never been away one time I stayed 5 days with a friend as I was having some issues. Then the rest of my 26 years of married life I have never been away from home for more then two or three nights usually two nights and home the third day. only one quick ride to La without the kids and my honeymoon.. We were still surrounded by kiddos. LOL I like kids..
That does not include visits or stays in the hospital.. I have spent a lot of time in the hospital over that period of time.. but I don't count that as a vacation.. although you might say it helped to de-stress! LOL

I have several acquaintances who would die having to camp outside ..LOL I adore being under the open sky looking at the stars and feeling safe and comfortable... Although these days I have to have a comfortable soft surface to sleep as the ground is to hard for my bones.. But i still love to be outside camping..

I like being under the the open sky & looking at the stars (but not alone), but I don't think I want to spend the night. Too many spiders & snakes and other creepy critters.

yeahh its purdy sweet when the lake is smooth and dad and i run the boats side my side..its sad though because the rc boat goes faster then our big boat ha
it gets top speeds of around 35. our boat get 32 ha

yeah i'd say 1 gb is PLENTLY for pictures, but we are going to use it for lots of video recording and that takes lots of space.
