Dave is correct, I am originally from Wakefield in West Yorkshire, UK. It's not as strong an accent as some people from near that area (Barnsley, for example is reknowned for it's particularly strong Yorkshire accent).I think my accent has been tempered slightly by the fact that despite doing my degree in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, most of the other students were from all accross the country. The same is now true here at the OU in Milton Keynes, where I'm studying for my PhD.Paul - I think there is a bit of a Milton Keynes accent. It's quite subtle, but I've mistaken a few voices for our departmental secretary, who is MK born. Perhaps with the huge growth in Milton Keynes over the past few decades the accent comes out most in the younger generation that have lived here all there lives.
