Title: XP Printer Queue Jam
Post by: Titanscape on 26/09/2009 09:37:46
I have XP going on two computers, Desktop and Laptop, both got jams after some paper jams and out of papers moments using an HP PSC 1402 printer.

They will all delete except for the first in the list, giving that the printer will not work. Print jobs queue and stay in queue.

I looked to change ports, to uninstall programs and re-install, but can't find the options. HP's driver is not the problem. I tried my old printer, same problem.

What can I do?

It is due and I plan to reinstall XP on my laptop.

This procedure will delete ALL spool files for ALL printer (which is normally exactly what you want).
Make sure you have nothing printing or waiting to print except for the "stuck" job before you do this.

Click on Start, then Run and type in cmd and press enter.
Type "net stop spooler" (without the quotes) and press enter.
Type "del C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.shd" (without the quotes) and press enter.
Type "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.spl" (without the quotes) and press enter.
Type "net start spooler" (without the quotes) and press enter.
Close the command prompt window.

Everything should now be back to normal :)
