Hi I have this theory that's been going on in my head for a while now. One day I was watching a YouTube Video about two YouTuber's playing a remake of the movie back to the future and also watching a comedy show in which they talked about time travel. I was wondering if there was anyway to see or make time travelling available to us now that we can test. Then i started thinking that when we time travel the location of our current self wouldn't move but the things around us would change just like a history line of what happened in that specific spot just going backwards. After I thought of that I realized that we are at constant motion, that no matter what the Earth is orbiting around the Sun and if it would stop moving we would get pulled down by the gravitational pull of the Sun. and the Earth is at constant rotation at speeds of 1,040 miles/hour(1,673 kilometers/hour). So if you would go back in time for about maybe an hour you would be 1,040 miles away towards the west and maybe either in the sky higher than you were before or lower than you were when you time traveled. The same things will be still happening that happened an hour before you time traveled it's just that your in a different spot than you were before. But that little theory is counter acted by the movement of our Solar System in the Galaxy which is about 515,000 miles/hour (828,000 kilometers/hour). So if you were to again go back in time an hour from right now you would be in the middle of nowhere in space (which is kind of terrifying) and you would die because of the lack of Oxygen up in space. So if you were to test out your time machine and you end up in the exact spot as you left then you would've proved me wrong and the fact that Galaxies are at constant moving motion moving away from the last spot of the Big Bang. But if you are in the middle of nowhere then you've proved my theory and the galaxies are at constant motion theory.
To sum it up if you were to say and make a dying promise that you will come back and meet yourself at this time, at this exact place, right now, then it wouldn't work because you've basically just made you die quicker in the future by going back in time and ending up nowhere in 2015. But hey I'm still technically a kid and I may be wrong. People may ask "Hey what if gravity had an effect on time travel?" well then that'll be a different story because your time machine will have to do the math to deal with the changes in gravity because of space time and gravity having an effect on time. So you may warp way to far off course. This is just my theory it may be true but it may be false in someways. maybe our universe isn't at constant motion, maybe it is.
Sorry for the long story, I just wanted to state my theory and have facts to support it to make it have maybe a higher chance of becoming a true fact (which I'm not sure if I want because I am a scifi fan which I believe most of you guys are.

Hi Loracerator, welcome to TNS.
My interest in science (other than geology) started with my looking for proof that time travel to the past was impossible; so it is good to see someone else thinking about the same subject. For some time I seemed to be going round in circles, then my wife suggested writing things down. Almost 200,000 words of notes later I am probably no nearer to a conclusion, but have learned quite a lot about a wide range of things.
Time is very short at present, but there are several points I would like to pick up on, so don't go away. [:)]

Your idea of going back an hour and finding the Earth had moved on is interesting, and not one I have met before;
Possibly because most people who think about going back in/through time want to go back to a specific time and place. What’s worse, they want to take their knowledge with them. Where’s the fun in going back if you don’t know you’ve done it? [:)]

I agree with the terrifying bit, but you must remember that when you are thinking about past-directed time travel you are dealing with spacetime events which are unique.
Let’s attach some imaginary coordinates to your Earth positions. At 10am the Earth was at point x, by 11am it is at point y, which is when you time travel back to x.
Remember that x is a unique spacetime event, so when you arrive it is as it was at 10am. The Earth is there and you are there. The snag is that you cannot have taken with you the information about the hour between 10 and 11, because x cannot exist without, then with, that information.

That isn't precisely correct. It's wrong to say that a location is either moving or at rest. Those are concepts that have meaning only relative to something else. For that reason its perfectly okay to say that we're at rest with respect to the Earth's frame of reference and its the Galaxy that's moving.

Time travel doesn't merely mean that you're moving from one point in time to another but from one point in spacetime to another point in spacetime so you choose where and when you move to when time traveling.

You're so called "theory" is really a speculation, not a theory since a theory is something else. This is more of an hypothesis. And your hypothesis is similar to a particular way of time traveling so you're neither nor wrong.

Good to think these things through. I think the idea of being dumped in space has been covered in a 1950's science fiction book - I think!!
As has been said, a good time machine would sort all that out by putting you in the right part of spacetime.
Apart from being dumped in space, you would need to know whether your current position was at the bottom of an ocean in the past.
However, have you thought that there might be no one there? After all if we are all travelling through time, we've all moved on? Only joking folks! [:D]
Have you also thought that we appear to be travelling backwards in time, at least we have a backwards facing seat. Can see where we've been but not where we are going!

Hello, your idea is witty but time travel as we see in science fictions is impossible. Although, there are some developing possible ideas which might help us go back in time (and with the evidence at hand and my own logics I believe going to the future will never be possible), those ideas wont let you just go to your desired time and destination... They work in a very limited way. Those ideas include... Going into a black hole where you might see distorted images of the past and possibly big bang; Going at the speed of light (As seen in interstellar); Discovering a parallel universe; Triple Cylinder, theres this theory which says that theres an infinitely long, rotating tunnel 10* mass of the sun somewhere within space time... And if your spaceship were to go into it you would spin for billions of revolution per minute, going back in time; Doughnut Vacuum, this theory states if we can manipulate gravitational fields, we can wrap matter and create a massive doughnut of space-time. Traveling round this time loop would send you back to any moment after the doughnut vacuum was created; Finding a wormhole in the space-time; Quantum tunneling, this theory says, by copying how electrons move, we can achieve time travel. Moving from A to B without passing through the space in between breaks the light barrier without going at dangerous light speed; Cosmic strings, cosmologists discovered mysterious cracks in the universe which formed moments after the Big Bang. They're so dense that if two were to hit each other they would warp space and make a time loop; Higgs Boson (a.k.a the god particle), by switching off the higgs we could one day un-mass objects and time travel;
I know, I in no way helped you with what you were really looking for, but basically it all comes down whether time travel is even possible and I thought I'd keep that theory of your's going with the possibilities. I just wanted to let you know that there's still hope, we might still be able to time travel. So don't give up on your theories or research (if any) on time travel.

Sort of seems to me that we think that our death should be important somehow -- perhaps a turning point in the scheme of things -- and that things (consciousness, spirit, etc.) somehow go on past our death.
At any rate, just my thoughts on this. Keep cogitating! But continue to wear your seat belt, be nice to folks!
(I often think too that if someone said, "I wish I were here a hundred years ago," then she/he would be wishing they were in a point in space with no air, far from planets, etc.)
