Title: The turkey bath!
Post by: Hadrian on 16/01/2007 13:14:57
Well at last I seem to be getting back on my feet. I have to say I feel a lot better. Thanks for all the good wishes. So now I have been thinking it’s about time that I got back to looking after myself again. I have lost a lot of fitness over the last two moths. I also discovered that all my clothes have strangely shrunk in size. I also noticed that gravity has increased, especially when I try to get up from my comfortable seat in front of the fire. I have gone back to preferring expandable tracksuit bottoms over my Jeans. I wonder if I just might have put on a few pounds? Its time for the dreaded weighing scales to be found. For some reason it seems to have left its usual place in favour of the outside shed. I must have taken them out there to weigh the turkey . Now please don’t jump to any conclusions about why I would be in a shed weighing a turkey in the first place, and yes it was dead. It's just we keep our freezer out there and it a good place to keep the bird cool.(did i say that?) All of this of course is just my way to avoiding telling you the fact that I did indeed put on some extra weight. I have to confess that I like training a lot more the thought of doing it. So it’s time to give myself my motivational talk.

Ok Hadrian, listen up. So you don’t want to leave your nice warm house and go out into the cold damp air and do some exercise. You would much rather sit and vegetate. After all you’re a growing lad, all be it your waist line. Yes it’s such hard work being a slob. All the effort in perfecting that perfect lounging pose. You know the one it’s somewhere between sitting and lying out. Then there is all that thinking and planning. I will start training as soon as the weather improves. Isn’t it funny that when it does I always seem be to busy or too tired. As you may know such avoidance planning takes lots of energy. Now here is a thought, if I knew that I had dropped a fifty euros note and the keys of my car (I have lost the spare set already) on the road say one mile from my house would I be prepared to go out into the rain and get them back? Of course I would knowing me I would probably do it for fiver without the keys. There are a lot of other things that would get me off my ass but it’s funny that one of the most important thinks in my life, my long term health doesn’t seem to be one. Maybe it’s the fact its long term that is the problem. Have I got so conditioned to only look for the short term effect? God bless the instant mash syndrome. If only I could add myself to warm water and stir gently to achieve perfect fitness every time. Sounds good though doesn’t it?   Come to think of it I suddenly feel like a nice warm bath. (I will have to look at the small adds to see if I can find one to fit in the shed!)

perhaps we should all be motivating each other. I've been meaning to do some exercise for ages too! doesn't quite seem to happen. I got a mini stepper and did use it yesterday briefly, but often feel like the noise would disturb my downstairs neighbour too much. and its too cold/dark/rainy to go outside running. I'm in a bit of a transitional phase regarding job/home so don't want to commit to a gym that might end up being miles away if I should need to move. oh well. I can' still do my jean up, so all is not lost (yet)

Hi Hadrian. I think it is easy for all of us to slip into that really relaxed comfortable place. I know for me I go there way to often. Especially in times of stress. I don't mean to, but it happens. I am working to keep and maintain the weight I have lost and every day brings new challenges and struggles. I fear sometimes I want to give up. Lately I have to look back and see where I have come from in order to motivate myself to keep going.. Believe me every day my head tells me whats the point, who cares anyway.. Then like this morning I started thinking and suddenly started crying and said to myself.. Who cares indeed self... I do.. I want to feel better look better, move with more ease, and be comfortable inside my own skin.. So Here we go again... Round One Million and One and I am not done!! I am putting on the gloves and I am going to win this round, and I am not going down without a fight!! I am going to reach my goal despite what jumps in front of me.. I am going to climb right over the top of it and keep going no matter what or who or why I stumble!! Thanks Hadrian.. This was the first thing I read on the site today.. and the only thing.. Thank you again.. friend. Good luck to you too Emperor, we have sorely missed your great reign and your inspiring motivation!! Hugs to you!!

I have been thinking about forming an on line community around every aspect of personal development and motivation. I would be very happy if any of you would help me in doing this.
