Dearest Metal-ologists,
As a sheepy I of course luff metal...metal is my all time favourite shiny thing that stuff is made from...especially things like paper-clips, nipple clamps and the blades in my blender . If it was not for luffley metal then my blender would be like...well krap !
Look, here is a piccy with some metal stuff in it. The metal stuff is labelled so that newbies to the world of metal stuff can learn what metal is !

A Piccy With Metal Stuff In It Earlier This Afternoon !
But, what is Semi-Metal ?..is it like Semi-skimmed Milk ?...I mean ewe either have metal or non metal yes ?...so where does semi-metal fit into the grand scheme of things ?..was it the progeny as a result of the union betwixt a metal clip and a rubber glove ?..and what use does Semi-metal have ?
Oh, how I want to know these things about Semi-metal....please help me know !
hugs & shmishes
mwah mwah !

I have never heard of a semi-metal. My limited knowledge of the Periodic Table of the Elements does not recall such a thing. Please name one.

Hey Chum,
I truly do not know !...hence the question !...It is something that apparently has the properties of metals and non metals .
I suppose I could google it but then that would defeat the object of this site. Perhaps, a passing semi-metallurgist will drop in by and help out !

I think he means a metalloid litespeed [:)] An example is silicon.
-
I think semimetals are somewhat more "metallic" than semiconductors, but not as "metallic" as metals.
As I'm not even a semidemimetallurgist, I'm going to say no more (but you can find more information on a certain unmentionable electronic encyclopedia.)

But, what is Semi-Metal ?

"Metalloid, or semi metal..."

For those people who hate wiki I will give a brief idea of what a semi-metal is. I seem to remember colouring in a periodic table with metals on the left and non-matals in the upper right hand corner. Inbetween metals and non-metals there are some elements that display some properties of each. If you draw a diagonal line down from Boron you will go through the metalliods or semi-metals. Examples of which are Boron, Silicon, Germanium, Arsenic, Antimony and so on. Even some of the elements off this diagonal have allotropes; one of which is more metal like than the other. For example Diamond (non-metal) and the slightly conductive, slippy slidey graphite with its very open structure.
I luff metals too but non-metals are cute too. I still luff mercury best though so prrrrf to you all.

Woo !!..Thank Ewe Make It Lady !
Ewe is well klevur and I really appreciate the time ewe took to explain that.
Mercury is my fave also...it's like..........liquid metal...........D'OH !

Just don't get carried away.
She keeps a large cauldron of molten metal on the boil in case she wants to dump it on any interlopers that might get too close.

Honestly speaking, I don't have enough knowledge about semi-metal because during our discussion when I am in high school, I did not listening to my teacher. But what I know is that semimetal is a material with a small overlap in the energy of the conduction band and valence bands. As semimetals have fewer charge carriers than metals, they typically have lower electrical and thermal conductivities. SEO Services (http://www.computerseo.com/)

if i remember rightly semi metals are semi condictive and using them you can vary the current going through them.
take silicon for example you can control the flow of electricty going through it therefor changing flow into information like in a microchip in the computer
tell me if im wrong
