It's amazing though, eh?
There is also backwards listening. If you play whole sentences backwards, it's very difficult to understand them. If you play the sentences again, but with each individual word backwards, then this is more understandable. If you do it again, but reverse each syllabul of the word, it becomes clearer still. The shorter the period reversed, the more understandable it becomes, even though it is still all backwards!

The fact that you can read the half-writing is explained by Gestalt theory. If given a series of dots that form a circle, your brain will recognize it as a circle, not just a series of dots. It's the same with half-letters. Your brain will supply the other half of what you see.

There is a lot of so-called 'redundancy' in language to make it robust - so you can use it in a high wind or on the factory floor.
You can out words sentence and it will still sense.
And you can read between the lines, too.
