Title: Knee cartilage injury
Post by: eddirichard on 07/10/2004 20:50:24
Can't bend my knee that far. Can't straighten it perfectly either. I can put weight on the leg without pain. I don't want to force it for fear of tearing something.Should I anyway? I wan't to walk again normally. I am scared to undergo surgery and its expensive! Is there an inexpensive way to treat this?

Might have stretched the ACL...you can strengthen the hamstring perhaps. You deffinately need to see a doc.

Anyone heard of Glycosamine (sp?) it is supposed to be good for maintaining cartilage and joints I've heard and be helpful in oesteoarthritis.

Yep, some of the orthopedists here use it with their patients.  It can be helpful, but not when the degeneration of the joint is severe enough to require surgery.  Eddirichard, you could try to go to a physical therapist first with that knee.  There might be some type of exercise or brace you could use, but I wouldn't try anything on your own.  Knees are tricky and you could make it worse.  Undoubtedly, they'll need at least an Xray.

Eddie there are several causes for this kind of pain.In your case it is possible that may be due to frequent colds, mostly due to excess heat in the body or improper digestion what really happens is the working of thyroid and parathyroid gland is damaged which leads to inadequate digestion of calcium in the body. This in turn damages the working of Gonads/sex glands which control digestion of phosphorous. The combined effect is that internal heat of the body is reduced in old age or due to weakness or continous cold, there is pain in small joints called "Rheumatic Arthritis".Sometimes there is swelling in big joints and if not cured ,it has a bad effect o heart and so it is called "Rheumatoid Arthritis".When these problems of join pains are trid to be supperessed by more and more powerful drugs,it impairs the nervos system.More over damage to thyroid parathyroid glands and sex glands leads to damage to adrenall gland which causes less oxygenation in  the body.
*****IS THIS THE CASE WITH U.IF NOT THEN I WOULD ALSO ADVICE U TO CONSULT A DOCTOR.I THINK THE U WILL ATLEAST NEED AN XRAY.*******
