Title: the use of enzymes in medicine

heya everybody!

i really need some help, i have searched everywhere to find information about enzymes used in medicine but have always found thatthe information i find is insufficient. so if you could please help me!thanks a lot! ana knechtelx

Enzymes have a huge role to play in medicine. A classic example is the administration of "Creon" - replacement digestive pancreatic enzymes - for people with pancreatic insufficiency caused by cystic fibrosis, or chronic pancreatitis.

You might get more detail with a more specific question.  Here's one that Chris can answer for you as I'd like to know myself.  =)  

Are medicinal enzyme mostly used to replace enzyme deficiencies or are there a significant amount used for other purposes?  (such as competitive inhibition of a different mutated enzyme that is causing problems)
