Why is it that when you fog up a window and write something with your finger, then let it defog, then fog it up again, what you wrote will still be there? Is it something to do with the oil on our fingers? Thanks.

I agree with your interpretation. It's probably because of the hydrolipidic film on the skin, which leaves a mark on the glass surface and affect the condensation of water vapour on it.
