Title: Do you remember Rain Lamps??? If so HELP PLEASE!
Post by: Karen W. on 17/07/2007 07:28:03: OK! Does anyone Know what a Rain Lamp is besides me??? I have one which is very old and has a nice naked women in it, standing amongst the ferns etc, as if showering in the rain.. I am getting ready to refinish the outer parts of my rain lamp as it has rusted from hanging outside. I will need to clean and refill my Rain Lamp.. My memory is lagging and I believe I used to fill it with mineral oil... I hope that is correct if someone knows otherwise please be kind enough to let me know? LOL

Please feel free to share a picture of your Rain Lamp if you still have one!

Post by: Karen W. on 17/07/2007 08:57:34: It is quite lovely... HEE HEE My husband hates it.. but who cares.. You pour the mineral oil into the bottom and plug it in. The pump, pumps it up and heats the mineral oil and it then drizzles down these delicately spaced cords which in turn look as if it is raining all around her. It is lovely, cheesy, but I like it! LOL

Hey Yes, how did you get my lamp? LOL I think that is even the same women! LOL

Wow it looks cool ... I can't wait to make mine pretty again! LOL!

Post by: dentstudent on 17/07/2007 08:58:46: What we do have is what i can only describe as a "rain harp". It's a sculpture of a harp (!) but where the strings use the same principle as your lamp. It looks fabulous in the winter, because the water freezes on the strings.

A rain Harp...ohhhh you should post a picture soon.. I would like to see one.. That would be beautiful! Does yours uses water instead of mineral oil?

WOW Water.. HMMMM mine is definitely oil I remember that.. Ok I looked up the lamp where you found it it has a $495.00 price on it! I am going out tomorrow and taking it from the shed and going to clean it up! My husband through it in the shed! Literally! It better still be there for his sake! LOL.. I might have to kick his tailfeathers!

I love these lamps and have restored a few.

Post by: SirDukeTheDJ on 09/09/2014 08:25:35: Hi I had a Rain Lamp exactly like you described yours. My Favorite Novelty Light. Was pretty & COOL. But I tried to take it apart to fix, I think it was the pump that went bad. I never managed to get it back together again or find another one like it. It used mineral oil & it dripped down wire like things that I think might be made out of nylon fishing line, usually used on a spin cast fishing reels. It sure was a unusual COOL Pretty Lamp. Wish I could find another one that works. I been looking for one since the early 90s.

They are really cool....Also look up rainlamps on line there are a couple vintage shops online that sell rain lamps..the old ones... that is...!
