Title: Bloody heavy moles!
Post by: DoctorBeaver on 28/05/2006 18:51:00
1 mole of CO2 weighs 44grams? erm... are you sure?

1 mole = 6 atoms (I think you said), so 6 atoms of CO2 weighs almost as much as a small jar of coffee?

P.S. Flatulence again! [xx(]

Not quite.

1 mole of carbon dioxide does indeed weigh 44g.

Relative atomic mass (RAM) carbon (C) = 12g per mole
Relative atomic mass (RAM) oxygen (O) = 16g per mole

Relative Molecular Mass of CO2 = 12 + (2 x 16 = 32) = 44g per mole.

Avogadro's number is the number of particles in 1 mole of a substance. It equals 6.02 x 10^23. In other words 6 followed by 23 zeros.

So 44g of carbon dioxide contains 6.02 x 10^23 molecules of the gas, and not 6! Otherwise they're very heavy atoms!

Thanks for the information...wow!  I am very impressed!
Do you know how much a Beaver weighs?

How much would a mole weigh if you pumped it full of CO2?

LOL  What a visual I have going on here?  Now I am wondering how much a beaver would weigh if you pumped him full of CO2?

If you know the comparative weights of CO2 & flatulence you can probably work it out [:D]

LOL Oh boy, now you are talking a language that I care not to learn, especially from a beaver!  LOL  I am not sure if I really want to know that information or not...inorganic gas with carbon and oxygen produced with composting then mix it with flatulence...starting to get a bit nauseous!  LOL  Darn Beavers!  Maybe we should find out how much a beaver weighs as I am sure it would be a heavier atom...we could just fill you up with some h2o instead since you are a beaver and you like dam water....hehe

Wow!  That is a pretty good size Beaver Neil!  Maybe we should auction this one off or put him in the fair to earn a buck or two...there are places in the world where he could bring a good penny or two!

Good luck in putting on the weight.....I have the reverse problem [:(]

The mole were takes place on any area of the body skin. This mole are black in color and are of tow types , the bumped an and the flat mole. The mole removal surgery is the best option to get removed the mole. For more information visit to spamremovalguide.com.
