When it comes to a whip it's because of its end traveling faster that sound, creating a 'super-sonic crack'. To see a video about it Emily can look Here. (http://blogs.howstuffworks.com/2009/11/12/why-does-a-whip-make-a-cracking-sound-when-someone-whips-it/) When it comes to the scarf? She's a pretty fast little lady, ain't she :)
