Title: Over how many generations can DNA be used to prove relations?
Post by: Eric A. Taylor on 21/06/2010 15:18:01
My father has done quite a lot of genealogy and discovered we are direct decedents of Charlemagne. This is not such a big deal. I think I read somewhere that 90% of the people of European decent can find a royal in their ancestors at some point. I wonder if it were possible to get a DNA sample of the dead king from long ago would it show a relation? or is 1200 years (about 60 generations) just to much to be reliable?

Considering rape and adultery are not new, what percent of the men listed in the records were not the real fathers?
