Dave asked the Naked Scientists:
Icing cannot reduce swelling. The only way to eliminate swelling is through muscle activation around the lymphatic system. How could icing the nerves and muscles which impairs their ability to activate around the lymphatic system possibly reduce swelling? It can't. See Gary Reinl's book, "Iced!
